Luck or Secret?

Introduction

Marcus Sharf, a teenager who turned his passion for sneakers into a successful business called Hyp Miami. When Marcus was 14, his parents wanted him to get a job, so he started selling things from around their house to fund his sneaker collection.

It all changed when he sold his first pair of Nikes for $300. That's when he realized that this could be more than just a hobby. Fast forward a few years, and Hyp Miami has become a go-to destination for shoe collectors, bringing in a 7-figure yearly revenue.

How He Started

Marcus Sharf started by selling items around his house to make some money to build his shoe business. He began selling sneakers as a hobby, and quickly noticed, he could make this a lucrative business.

He started to collect and sell sneakers, and then used the profit he made to reinvest it back into the business.

At the time, Marcus utilized the popular brand called Supreme. They drop new clothes and accessories every week. The trick is to buy these items at retail price as soon as they're released. If you do it right, you could sell them for sometimes double what you paid.

Now, if you've sold stuff online before, like on eBay, you've got a bit of a head start.

For example, Marcus bought a jacket for $200, and didn’t even wait to get it in his hands. He went straight to eBay and listed it with the email confirmation of the purchase. Within an hour, he sold it for double the price he bought it for. He was doubling his money before he even touched the product.

Tip #1
Marcus mentions that time management is key when it comes to running a successful business. Scheduling and making sure you have enough hours in the day to get everything done is crucial. And if you find that there's not enough time, you have to be willing to shift things around and prioritize. Have the proper systems in place and the right people to carry out those systems.

How The Business Grew

Marcus Sharf, harnessed the power of social media to grow his business. He used platforms like Instagram to connect with people and showcase his products.

It all started with something as simple as raffling off stickers on Instagram live, and from there, he expanded into clothing and sneakers. He started with limited resources and built his business from the ground up.

Marcus understood the importance of having proper systems in place to scale his business. One example is the inventory system called Scout that they use in the warehouse.

It is convenient for him because it has a barcode scanner, making it easy to process incoming items. Plus, it tracks sales and integrates with popular apps like StockX and GOAT. There are plenty of ways to implement systems that streamline operations and boost efficiency.
