McDonald’s Made This Truck Mechanic a Millionaire
The Secret Sauce
Introduction
Joseph Puzur took over his dad's truck repair business, it was making around $30,000 a year. But now, at just 24 years old, Joseph has turned it into a $1 million a year business, and there's even more room for growth!
As a teenager, Joseph wasn't so into school. Instead, he jumped right into working at his dad's truck shop. And you know what? It turned out to be a brilliant move because he discovered his passion for truck repair.
How The Business Started
When Joseph started his business, people around him doubted if he could make enough money to cover the rent for the warehouse space. But Joseph had enough money to afford the lease, so he took the leap and signed it.
He was unsure if he would have enough customers to fill the space and pay the bills, but it turned out that he had more customer demand than he initially thought once he had the space to bring them in. This taught him the importance of taking risks and trusting in the potential of his business.
When Joseph Puzur started his trucking business, he would service about four to five trucks per day. That was considered a good day for him. But now, he's grown his business to a point where he services around 25 to 30 trucks on average.
To make it all work, Joseph divided his team of four into different tasks. One guy greases the trucks, another inspects them, and there's someone dedicated to changing the oil. By having each person focus on a specific job, they can efficiently handle the workload and provide quality service to their customers.
Tip #1
Find a shop with experienced technicians who can teach you the ins and outs of the industry. By getting your hands dirty and learning from those with knowledge, you'll build the necessary skills and expertise.
How The Business Grew
He took inspiration from McDonald's and their focus on speed, quality, and price. Joseph found ways to streamline the process and reduce the time it takes to complete a job.
For example, when it comes to oil changes, which are a form of preventative maintenance, Joseph figured out how to do them in just 20 to 30 minutes. This allowed him to provide faster service to his customers while still maintaining quality. He understood that in any business, people value speed, quality, and price, so he made it a priority to deliver on all three.
To achieve this, Joseph built a strong team that could efficiently handle different tasks. By dividing the workload and having each person focus on a specific job, they were able to work faster and provide the best experience for the truckers they served. It's all about finding ways to bring speed, quality, and price together to give customers the best possible service.
When it comes to marketing, Joseph has relied solely on word of mouth to promote his business. He is proud of the natural traction they have gained over the past few years. However, he is also excited about the potential of social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook ads to further enhance their business in the future. With the power of these digital marketing tools, Joseph envisions reaching even more customers and expanding the reach of his trucking business.
