1. Make A List

The first step in getting your business off the ground and attracting your first customers is to create a list of potential leads.

Start by diving into your email account and gather all the contacts you've ever messaged or emailed. That's list number one. Then, head over to your social media profiles and jot down the usernames of your followers who you can direct message. That's list number two. Lastly, grab your phone and export your contacts, including both personal and professional ones. That's list number three.

Now, when you combine all three lists, you'll be amazed at the number of leads you have. Don’t contact them in a weird or pushy way. Contact them in a classy and respectful manner.

2. Personalize The Message

Make your outreach more personal. This will increase your chances of getting those first customers. Tap into what you already know about them. It's all about being a human being and showing that you genuinely care. Take just 30 seconds to check out their profile and find something you have in common or something interesting about them.

Then, use that as the starting point for your message. For example, if you see that they just had a baby, you can reach out and say, "Hey [insert name], congrats on the new addition to your family!" It could be anything like a job switch, a move, or even a movie they watched. The key is to show that you took the time to personalize the message and you’re not just sending something generic.

3. How To Respond

After someone has responded to your personalized message, you can use a framework called ACA. It stands for Acknowledge, Compliment, and Ask.

First, acknowledge something about them, like if they mention being a travel enthusiast. You could say something like, "Oh, you love to travel? That's amazing!"

Then, give them a genuine compliment related to their love for travel. You might say, "Your adventurous spirit is truly inspiring! It's incredible how you embrace new cultures and experiences."

Finally, tie your ask to the compliment you just gave. For instance, you could ask, "Since you're such a seasoned traveler, have you ever considered using a travel planning app?"

This approach helps create a natural and engaging conversation that can lead to discussing the service or product you offer.

4. Make It Free

Start by offering them something super easy to say yes to. And what's easier than free, right? Now, they might already know that you're not the most experienced person out there, but that's okay.

Here's the trick: tell them that you're willing to do all this stuff for free, but in return, you have three simple requests. First, they actually use your service. Second, they give you feedback on how you can improve. And third, if they think your service deserves it, they leave you a positive review.

Why does this work? Well, for one, it'll give you more practice and help you get better at what you do. By offering your service for free, you're making it super easy for people to give you a chance.
